Attachment program on diagnostics of leafminers and their parasitoids of agricultural importance
Date: 15 Jan - 11 Mar 2017
The main objective of the training is to develop and strengthen capacity of participants of ASEAN Member States (AMS) in taxonomy in order to be able to accurately diagnose and identify pests and manage quarantine risks associated with agricultural commodities, especially leaf miners and their parasitoids
The attachment program on leafminers of agriculture importance was held at the Museum Zoologicum Bogoriense, Centre for Research Development in Biology, LIPI, Cibinong, Bogor, Indonesia from 16 February to 11 March 2017.
Previous training workshops that were conducted in the year 2016 have been focusing on basic knowledge of the concept of leafminers as economic insect pests in horticultural crops and their management. A series of two months attachment program were conducted to enhance capabilities of participants' diagnostic skills in identification of important leafminer pests and their parasitoids.
Objectives:
- To provide and enhance diagnostic skills for identification of leafminers and their parasitoid
- To gain deeper understanding on surveillance techniques and methods used for sampling, rearing, mounting and data analysis of leafminers and parasitoid
- To study the distribution of leaf miner species and parasitoids at different altitudes in agriculture production areas
